We're loving Mexico! We saw these beautiful ocean creatures while snorkeling...
So I've been thinking of my favorite summer movies that make me feel nostalgic. The Flamingo Kid, The Karate Kid, Summer School, Back to the Beach, The Lost Boys. Ahhh...the eighties, the beach, silly movies. What are some of your favorites?

This is one of a series of pictures that I've found in Sophia's backpack.
As you can see, Sophia is dressed in her finest wedding gown and Thomas is decked out in his finest kilt, playing the bagpipes (?). Sophia is in love. Plain and simple. She calls Thomas her boyfriend. I don't think Thomas considers her that kind of girlfriend, but at least he thinks she's a pretty great girl. Sophia tells me he makes her "faint" because of his "long eyelashes and he's the nicest boy in her class". I just think it's all so very sweet.

Our vacation is only hours away but we've still not finished packing.
I did manage, however, to get both the kids packed up for their staycation...not an easy task.
Our bedroom has been turned upside down and just may have to stay that way for a few days.
Oh well, I'll be on a beach soon.

Who else out there could spend hours at Sephora? Ah...I love that place! After a lengthy visit, I finally found my perfect makeup!!! It is fabulous.
I have really uneven skin that is pretty red around my nose and chin. See my before shot...
I've also had bad luck with my makeup looking too orange once it is applied. But this stuff is amazing. I only have to use a teeny bit (thank goodness since it is pricey).
It is really light, blends perfectly, and then has an almost powdery finish.
I also picked up a great shaker of perfume. I usually wear Number Five which is completely delicious but entirely too much for warmer weather.
The scent is every bit as beautiful as the box which opens up to reveal a gorgeous flat, and the whimsical cocktail shaker bottle. I think I'm hooked. Who needs candy?

Bonjour! I am back from a detour...life kept me away from the computer this week. Last night was Evening in Paris and it was a fabulous event. I love any chance to get all gussied up and act like a grown-up (however poorly behaved). I wore a creamy white and dark, dark brown print dress from Anthro and my lovely, feathered confection in my hair. I felt like a queen.
It was a great night although it was a bit rain and wine soaked. Both my parents and Keith's joined us for the evening. My mother walked away from the silent auction with this stunning, pink feathered tree.
It is now in our home ready for year round display in the kids' rooms. I am excited to hang little vintage Barbie outfits from it or make a garland of dainty Barbie shoes.

I have been spring cleaning so I had no intentions of thrifting...but there's a project just burning in my head so I had to venture out for necessary materials. Unfortunately I did not find the raw materials I was looking for. Fortunately I walked away with some serious treasures.

What a busy weekend! It successfully kept me away from my computer, and since I lack all organizational skills or that "plan-ahead" desire, I've been really falling short in the blogging department. It was my devilishly handsome husband's birthday and on top of that, we had a four-year-old's birthday party and a wedding shower.
I did manage a little more spring cleaning of my vintage stock and have been furiously putting together ephemera packs. I think they are amazing!

I've also gathered up several pairs of clip-on earrings that will be shipped for FREE! You know I love my clip-ons. Use them in decor, crafting, dangling from your pretty lobes, to stylishly clip your earphone cords to your shirt...so versatile.
This is one of my favorite pairs.
On another note, I was b-day shopping last week and picked up the new Vampire Weekend record.
It is fabulous and on very heavy rotation. I highly recommend it!

Several months ago I treated myself to a Glamour magazine. Not something I do too often since most beauty mags are filled with pretty much nothing but raunchy (albeit entertaining) "information". I was very pleasantly surprised by the very approachable fashions and easy style. I also happened upon this picture.
It's hard to pinpoint what I love most about this picture but I was immediately drawn to those killer, high-waisted, lace knickers. After reading the caption, I knew I wasn't going to have them (Agent Provocateur, and far too expensive...live where there is no A.P. and shop for undies at Target). But then we went on holiday in Vegas and there they were. On sale no less. Luxurious, completely gorgeous, zipper up the side. They had to be mine. Drat the assisted fitting. Yes, "assisted"... by a six foot tall, stunningly indie, stiletto-heeled beauty who was there to zip me into my undies and matching cupless bra (oh my). Yikes. My only consolation was that my bikini line was smooth and she had (most likely) seen everything. But now I love my pretty, overly indulgent pair of panties. Hooray for lovely lace. And all of it due to this foxy, curvy lady. I wouldn't mind the pearls and Valentino cardigan to go with my new "shorts". I was happy to forgo the brassiere.

Serendipity. Luck. Who knows? This is what Ollie and I found on our drive home from preschool. A chance encounter with a yard sale and an incredible discovery.
I haven't even checked yet if it works. I'm still in the infatuation stage of the relationship. It's just so blindingly good-looking it couldn't be anything but perfect, right?
We also picked up an adorable vintage set of snack plates circa 1984.
The kids seem to think the plates are theirs but I think they would be perfect to serve small bites at a very casual adult get-together. Sweet nostalgia.

I have been spring cleaning and found loads of vintage that had yet to be listed. I did manage to add quite a few items to the shop and plan to put more in tomorrow. You can look forward to some beautiful baubles!
We treated ourselves to a delectable lunch today. Taking Shannon's advice, we journeyed down to 26th and Holmes to Succotash. I hadn't been since they moved from the City Market location and was nervous that they may have lost some of their charm. But it was lovely and layered and absolutely delicious! I had the Vegan Delight (no, I'm not vegan, not vegetarian) and a Pink Carnation (grapefruit and beet juice) and would go back again and again to get that same meal.
